A pregnancy that ends on its own within the first <\/span>20 weeks<\/span><\/a> of gestation is called a <\/span>miscarriage<\/b>. Miscarriage symptoms that occur before, or during, can be different for everyone. <\/span> It is the most common type of pregnancy loss. Studies reveal that anywhere from 10-25% of all clinically recognized pregnancies will end in miscarriage<\/strong>. Chemical pregnancies may account for 50-75% of all miscarriages<\/strong>. This occurs when a pregnancy is lost shortly after implantation, resulting in bleeding that occurs around the time of her expected period. The woman may not realize that she conceived when she experiences a chemical pregnancy.<\/p>\n

Warning Signs of Miscarriage<\/h2>\n

If you experience any or all of these miscarriage symptoms, it is important to contact your health care provider or a medical facility to evaluate if you could be having a miscarriage:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Bleeding may start as light spotting, or it could be heavier and appear as a gush of blood. As the cervix dilates to empty, the bleeding becomes heavier.<\/p>\n

The heaviest bleeding is generally over within three to five hours from the time heavy bleeding begins. Lighter bleeding may stop and start over one to two weeks before it completely ends.<\/p>\n

The color of the blood can range from pink to red to brown. Red blood is fresh blood that leaves the body quickly. Brown blood, on the other hand, is blood that\u2019s been in the uterus a while. You may see <\/span>discharge<\/span><\/a> the color of coffee grounds, or near black, during a miscarriage.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exactly how much bleeding you\u2019ll experience depends on a variety of circumstances, including how far along you are and whether or not your miscarriage is progressing naturally. Let your doctor know if you fill more than two sanitary pads an hour for two or more hours in a row.<\/p>\n
